Welcome to GlueCode. I’m Winston Damarillo, the CEO of GlueCode. Like most people, you may be wondering about our name. Quite simply, it comes from a term programmers use to describe the code they would write to enable two different applications to work together. We came up with it relatively quickly because we were looking for something that is close to our roots — which is well-designed software.
While our name may be lighthearted, our objective is not. GlueCode is a software company providing integrated open source-based e-Business applications with enhanced functionality, such as management and security, at a low cost.
While I was at Intel, I saw the problems that traditionally developed software created in companies both large and small. Fast-growing companies had to throw away their Web infrastructure investment almost yearly because it could not scale, could not be maintained properly, or simply was unreliable. Application service providers (ASPs) could not get the breadth of services or predictability they needed to manage integrated solutions, nor could they add new feature sets in the timeframe the market dictated.
E-service providers are facing continuous pressure to deliver more sophisticated solutions on quicker timelines. This comes as the industry is shifting to a fixed-fee model. They had a hard time getting their projects to deliver sufficient and, in many cases, positive margins because they failed to use repeatable processes or reusable code.
In every instance, companies clearly needed a predictable software infrastructure and a streamlined process for deployment. Proprietary applications were not the answer, because most smart companies were beginning to build their e-businesses on open standards. And that, really, was the genesis of GlueCode.
At GlueCode, we are creating a software company that will take advantage of existing software applications and emerging software, based on the growing demand for open standards and open source software. We are working to give ASPs the reliability and expandability they need for their clients and providing e-service providers with open and fast deployment options to better serve their clients. In other words, we want to make the whole process FAST, OPEN, SIMPLE and SMART.
